Borts, Bertha L.  
PIQUA — Bertha L. Borts, 93, of Piqua, died at 6 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at the Piqua Manor Nursing Home. She was born July 22, 1921, in Piqua to the late Samuel D. and Ellen Mae (Avy) McMaken. She married Orville Borts on June 22, 1946, in Piqua; he preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 1985. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Shirley Borts Grabo and husband Larry Grabo of Piqua. She was preceded in death by her son, Craig Borts. Mrs. Borts was a 1940 graduate of Piqua Central High School and retired in 1984 from the Medalist Allen A Company. She was a wonderful homemaker and a member of Grace United Methodist Church. A service to honor her life will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Hospice Chaplain Edward Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County, Inc., P.O. CRIDERSVILLE - Betty Lou Davis, 83, of Cridersville died Dec. 16, 2014 at Otterbein-Cridersville Senior Lifestyle Choice. She and her husband, Rev. Richard E. Davis, have pastored United Methodist Churches in Westminster, Benton Ridge, Brookville, Christiansburg, Metamora, Edgerton, and Kenton Epworth. Visiting hours will be 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19, at Bayliff and Son Funeral Home in Cridersville. Memorial Services will begin 11 a.m. on Saturday at Westminster United Methodist Church.

DAVIS, RICHARD M. "Richie"  
BM 2 RICHARD M. DAVIS PIQUA — Boatswain Mate 2nd Class Richard M. "Richie" Davis, 26, of Piqua, died Monday December 15, 2014 in Annapolis, Md. He was born June 19, 1988, in Dayton. Survivors include his grandparents, Tracy L. and Stella L. (Adkins) Davis of Piqua; his mother, Roseanna Highley of Dayton; two sisters, Ashley Highley of Dayton and Christine Johnson of Botkins; an uncle, Terry (Marie) Davis of Kettering; an aunt, Edie Adkins of Piqua; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Richie was a 2006 graduate of Piqua High School after which he enlisted in the United Sates Navy. Following Boot Camp he was stationed at the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was deployed twice to the Country of Bahrain where he served honorably. Upon his return he was assigned to the Naval Station of Norfolk Virginia until he accepted a position at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland where he continued his active duty service to the military and his Country. He enjoyed being with people, fishing and hunting and will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. A service to honor his life will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Bishop Brian T. Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery where full military honors will be provided by the United States Navy and our local Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Visitation will be from 12-3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Piqua Community Foundation, P. O. Box 226, Piqua, OH 45356. Griesdorn, John E. - Versailles  
VERSAILLES — John E. Griesdorn, 67, of Versailles, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, at 11:22 p.m. at Upper Valley Medical Center. He was born Jan. 16, 1947, in Greenville, the son of the late Edwin "Jiggs" and Mary Jane (Treon) Griesdorn. He retired from General Motors Department 32 after 32 years. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles Eagles, and a social member of The Versailles Vets Club. He is preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Taylor Marie Griesdorn. He is survived by his wife: Marilyn (Ecabert) Griesdorn of Versailles, whom he married Feb. 20, 1971; his children and spouses: Sheri and Alec Broadfoot of Powell, Brian and Lori (Schlater) Griesdorn of Versailles, Kimberly and Bret Ayers of Coldwater, Eric Griesdorn of Versailles; grandchildren: Maggie, Cameron, Natalie Broadfoot, Zachary, Katelyn, and A.J. Griesdorn, Emma, Paige, Mason, and Lauren Ayers; brother and sister in law: Robert and Gina Griesdorn of Piqua; and numerous nieces & nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Denis Catholic Church 14 E. Wood St., Versailles, with the Rev. Fr. Jim Simons Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, and from 9-10 a.m. on Wednesday at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles. Trostel, Marie E. McDaniel  
TROY — Marie E. McDaniel Trostel, 86, of Troy, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014. She was born on Jan. 15, 1928, in Houston, Ohio, to the late Lee Earl and Virginia Elnora (Ford) Jess. She was married to Jack E. McDaniel and he preceded her in death in 1986. Marie was then married to Donald Trostel for 18 years and he survives. Marie is survived by her present husband of 18 years of marriage, Donald I. Trostel; son and daughter-in-law: Jack G. and Charlotte McDaniel of Troy; daughter and son-in-law: Tina M. and David Wagner of Troy; brother: Robert Jess of Piqua; grandchildren: Angela (Greg) Dilts of Troy; Amy (Michael) Kahre of Troy; Arika Wagner of Troy; Meagan McKinney of Troy; Colton McKinney of Troy; Andrew Dilts of Pleasant Hill; Ashlyn and Adria Kahre; and stepsons: David (Valerie) Trostel of Urbana and Daniel Trostel of Urbana. In addition to her parents and her first husband, Marie was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank, William, Vernon, Harold, Raymond and Junior Jess and sisters, Dorothy Epperly and Martha Benning. Marie attended the Cove Spring Church. She was a member of the Troy Senior Citizens. She was previously active with Stetsun Traveling Square Dancers. Marie was a former employee of Braun Brothers/Dinner Bell for over 40 years. With Marie's passing friends and family have lost a warm, loving, gentle person. She will be missed by all who were blessed to know her. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, with the Pastor Greg Morrow officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Troy. The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
