Cody R. Sterling

PIQUA - Cody R. Sterling, 22, of Piqua, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 at his residence.
He was born July 23, 1990, in Piqua, to David A. Sterling of Piqua and Marianne (Phillips) Sterling of Piqua.
Cody is survived by three brothers, Bradley Sterling, Piqua, Jesse Sterling, West Milton and Ben Sterling of Greenville. He also is survived by maternal grandparents, Verlin and Judy Phillips of Piqua; and paternal grandfather, Dwayne Harvey of Fletcher.
Cody was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mildred Harvey.
Cody graduated from Piqua High School in 2009. He worked for Wendy's in Piqua for six years and he also worked for Piqua Ace Hardware. Cody loved football and began playing for the Piqua Youth Football Association third grade through sixth. He then played for the Piqua Junior High School and continued playing for the Piqua Indians all four years of high school including being a part of the 2006 Division II State championship team wearing No. 68. In his four years of playing high school football, Cody won two Lift-A-Thon's, a first place and second place. His favorite NFL team was the Atlanta Falcons. Cody also loved to go fishing. Cody will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home, Piqua, with Pastor Donald Brode officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua. Friends may call Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home 646 W. High St. Piqua, Ohio 45356 to help defray funeral expenses.
