Helen L. Stump

PIQUA — Helen L. Stump, 90 formerly of Piqua, died at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at the Kobacker House of Columbus. She was born March 23, 1923, in Darke County to the late Guy and Ethel (Cox) VanOrmer. She married Delbert Dale Stump on Sept. 9, 1942 at Camp Shelby, Miss.; he preceded her in death June 12, 2005.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharilyn (Mike) Stanley of Powell; two grandchildren, Stephen (Brooke) Stanley and Beau (Stacey) Stanley; and five great -randchildren Gracie, Lily, Mia, Isaiah, and Simon.

Mrs. Stump was a graduate of New Madison High School, worked at the former Lear Aviation in Piqua and then, with her husband, owned and operated for thirty years Mickey's Dairy Store at the corner of McKinley Avenue and South Street. She was a member of the Piqua Church of the Brethren, the Troy Senior Citizens Club and volunteered for many years with the Meals on Wheels program.

A service to honor her life will begin at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Beau Stanley officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio Health Hospice, 800 McConnell Dr., Columbus, OH 43214.
