THE VILLAGES, Fla. — James Wilson Baldwin, born Nov. 11, 1922 in Piqua, left this life Jan. 4, 2014. Jim was a current resident of The Villages, Fla., where he enjoyed playing golf to the end of his life.

He graduated from Piqua High School in 1941, where he was president of his class and enrolled at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. After completing his sophomore year at Purdue, he was called up to serve in the Army Corps of Engineers as a Second Lieutenant, stationed at several locations in Europe. After World War II, he returned to Purdue and earned the bachelorof science degree in metallurgical engineering where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega. He also earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Business School. Additionally, he was a licensed real estate broker in Illinois.

He was the chief metallurgist and plants manager at Abex Corporation, Chicago, Ill. He retired as the chief operating officer from Thomas Foundries in Birmingham, Ala.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Libbie L. Baldwin; and son, Howard Wilson Baldwin.

He is survived by his loving wife of 7 years, Patricia Ebbing Baldwin of The Villages, Fla.; his son, Dr. Creighton Baldwin of Charlotte, N.C., his wife Carol, and their daughters, Leslie Baldwin Clark of Wrightsville Beach, N.C., her husband Neill Clark and their children Ebby and Mason; Lindsey Baldwin Kasten of Boston, Mass., her husband Dr. Kevin Kasten and their children Caitlin and Libbie; Lisa Baldwin Edgar of Philadelphia, Pa. and her husband Adam Edgar; Lori Baldwin of Budapest, Hungary and Lydia Baldwin of Fort Collins, Colo.; his daughter, Barbara Baldwin of San Antonio, Texas, her husband Dr. Charles Hermesch and their son, Kevin Baldwin Hermesch; and his granddaughter, Marlina Baldwin of Vienna, Austria.
