TIPP CITY — John Franklin Loughman Jr. passed away peacefully Dec. 24, 2013, after a short illness, in Tipp City, at the age of 83. Born April 2, 1930, in Nineveh, Pa., John is survived by his wife of 62 years, Delores, and their three children, Deborah, Michael, Wayne, and their families.
The oldest of seven children, he is survived by Catherine, Eleanor, Florence, David, Happy, and George.
He also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Plato, Thunder and Biscuit.
A devoted, religious, husband and father, John served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955, and as a manager with the FAA from 1955-1978. He retired to pursue his passion of farming and growing fruits and vegetables. He loved spending time in his greenhouse. Several years later, he expanded the farm with his two sons to train and board horses. John also loved to fly airplanes, and built an airplane from scratch. John received his 50-year membership pin in 2008 as a 32-degree Master Mason of The Scottish Rite Freemason Lodge located in Canonsburg, Pa.
A memorial service is planned for 8 p.m. Friday. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. The service will be held at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home, 507 West Jefferson St., New Carlisle.
