Lawrence L. "Larry" Long

SIDNEY — Lawrence L. "Larry" Long, 76, of Sidney, died at 4:30 a.m., Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Sidney. He was born on Oct. 30, 1937, in Evansville, Ind., to the late John Everette and Opal (Harmon) Long, Sr. On Dec. 13, 1966, he married Ethel Tucker. She preceded him in death on Feb. 16, 1997.

Larry is survived by one daughter and son-in-law: Connie and Andy Corde, Huber Heights; six grandchildren: Tyler Peepels, Cody Corde, Teresa Schwartz, LaDonna Keown, Stephanie Fleming, Jimmy Herron and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter: Debbie Herron; one son: Bill Keown; two brothers: Everett Long and John EveretteLong, Jr.; one grandson: Steven Herron; and one great grandchild: Ethan Fleming.

Larry worked on Oil Rigs in West Virginia for over twenty years. Larry loved to go camping and spending time with his family. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Piqua United Pentecostal Church, 651 W. Ash Street, Piqua, with Pastor Gary Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Mr. Long's arrangements are entrusted to Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home, Piqua.
