PIQUA — Robert W. Bayman, 81, of Piqua, died at 1:40 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at the Upper Valley Medical Center. He was born June 13, 1932, in Piqua to the late Wilford and Tillie (Stephan) Bayman and was raised on a farm in North Star. He married Phyllis J. Sink at St. John's Lutheran Church in 1956, a marriage that would span more than 60 years.

Other survivors include a son, Anthony (Nicky) Bayman of Piqua; a daughter, Julie (Joseph) Harker of Piqua; a son-in-law, Charles Long of Piqua; nine grandchildren, Jeremy Long, Jennifer Fazio, Joshua Long, Rachel Harker, Jessica Bayman-Gearhardt, Jakob Bayman, Neil Bayman, Whitney Elders, Amanda Harker; eight great-grandchildren, Alexis Long, Taylor Long, Dominic Fazio, Lincoln Gearhardt, Lillian Gearhardt, Rieley Coy, Payton Coy, Dylon Bayman; and a brother, Herbert (Virgie) Bayman of Versailles. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Krysta Long.

Mr. Bayman enjoyed a long career as a professional auctioneer, automobile dealer, and antique dealer, as Bayman's Auctioneering Service including handling major auto auctions throughout the Mid West, Bayman's Auto Sales, and Avenue & Alley Antique Shop. He was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean War. He was a long time active member of St. John's Lutheran Church where he served on many committees and as its Council President. Additionally, he was a member of the American Legion Post 184, the Ohio Auctioneering Association, National Auctioneering Association, Ohio Auto dealers Association, served as the State Reporter for the Ohio Future Farmers of America, and as an Appraiser for the United States Bankruptcy Court.

A service to honor his life will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Havey officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be for 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 248 Wood St., Piqua, OH 45356.
