PIQUA — Rose Marie Strawsburg, 80, of Piqua, died at Upper Valley Medical Center on Feb. 17, 2014, at 3:30 a.m. She was born in Cleveland, on Jan. 15, 1934, to the late Chester and Stella (Zadzielka) Sobczak. On Feb. 11, 1961, in Independence, she married her loving husband of 53 years, Grover "Bud" Strawsburg. He survives.
Rose is also survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Katherine and Jerry Brock, Houston, Linda and David Meyer, Pleasant Hill, and Diane Bogucki, Columbus; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary Strawsburg, Huber Heights, Brad and Barb Strawsburg, North Hampton, and Todd and Bev Strawsburg, Mechanicsburg; and eight grandchildren, Jessica and Tim Mangen, Jason and Sandra Purk, Douglas Meyer, Lisa Meyer, Dallas Strawsburg, Dru and Jennifer Strawsburg, Bradley, Brittney and Nate Strawsburg; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Chet Sobczak.
Rose was a member of St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church, Covington. She retired from Piqua City Schools as a cook for 20 years. She enjoyed cooking, ceramics, golf, gardening, and above all spending time with her family and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held Friday, at 7 p.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home, Piqua with the Rev. Fr. Ron Haft as Celebrant. Calling hours will be from 5:30-7 on Friday at the funeral home.
