PIQUA - William E. Bauman Jr., 66, of Piqua, went to heaven at 6:35 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at his residence following his battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.
He was born Jan. 13, 1946, in Piqua, to Mrytle (Dodson) Bauman Hayes of Piqua and the late William E. Bauman Sr. He married Peggy L. Brown on Sept. 24, 1965, in Piqua; and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Joe (Jenni) Bauman of Piqua, Michael Bauman of Greenville; two grandchildren, Morgan (Skie) Bauman-Abney, Kyle (Caprice) Bauman; two great-grandchildren, Bryson, and Hudson who is expected in February; three stepsisters, Pat Ross, Karen Moore and Paula Taylor all of Piqua; a step-brother Don Hayes Louisiana; and a special friend, John Weimer of Greenville. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Elden Hayes and two brothers.
Mr. Bauman attended Piqua City Schools. He retired from A.K. Steel following 32 years of employment and then worked for the Orr Felt Company for four years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge 614 of Piqua and the Fish & Game Clubs of Piqua and Troy. He enjoyed his family, Piqua football, the Cincinnati Reds and casinos.
A service to honor his life will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Hospice Chaplain Edward Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
