PIQUA — Jasper B. Gilmore Jr., 86, of Piqua, died at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at Koester Pavilion. He was born Sept. 21, 1927, in Piqua to the late Jasper B. and Florence (Shephard) Gilmore. He married Yvonne J. Werling April 4, 1948, in Piqua; she preceded him in death Oct. 11, 2009.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan E. Gilmore of Piqua and Anne M. Haines of Troy; a son, Gregory B. (Missy Cotterman) Gilmore Sr. of Piqua; six grandchildren, Greg Gilmore Jr., Jennifer Weber, Jacqueline Pappas, Mickey Pappas, Laurel Bay Pappas, Lauren Haines; eight great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Tremblay of Traverse City, Mich. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary M. Gilmore.
Mr. Gilmore attended Piqua City Schools and retired as a Machinist from the General Motors Company in Moraine. He was a United States Army veteran having served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a member of the Piqua Christian Church. He enjoyed traveling, being a Florida Snowbird, playing the drums, fishing, playing cards, auto racing and was an avid Cincinnati Reds and Bengals fan. He will be greatly missed by his loving family.
A service to honor his life will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with the Rev. Travis Mowell officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery where full military honors will be provided by the Troy Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
