MONTICELLO, Fla. - Kathleene A. Crotinger, 67, formerly of Piqua, died at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at the Brynwood Center in Monticello, Fla. She was born Oct. 15, 1946, in Piqua, to the late Herman E. and Elizabeth "Bette" (Valentine) Crotinger.
She is survived by her sister, Joyce Ketzel of Tallahassee, Fla.; two nieces, Lori (David) Guthrie of Tallahassee, Fla. and Julie Burke of Lutz, Fla.; four great nephews, Stephen Ketzel, Justin Davis, Alex Kitsos and Brandon Burke; one great niece Giuliana Amirzadeh and is proceeded in death by one great nephew, Vance Ketzel.
Miss Crotinger was a graduate of Piqua Central High School and earned her Bachelor's degree in teaching from Otterbein College. For many years she taught Special Education students within the Duval County (Jacksonville, Fla.) School System. Her students were her life and her passion for teaching and guiding them to discover their strengths, abilities, skills and successes was truly a gift. She was an active volunteer for the Special Olympics, enjoyed spending time with family and had a love for animals. She will be missed by her loving family and friends.
A service to honor her life will begin at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with the Rev. James R. Christy officiating. Her family will receive friends from 5:00-6:30 pm Monday at the funeral home. A graveside service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Miami Memorial Park, Covington. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics Florida, 1915 Don Wickham Dr., Clermont, Fla. 34711-1905.
