PLEASANT HILL — Estella Elizabeth Haines, 104, of Pleasant Hill, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at the Brethren's Home, Greenville. She was born Dec. 30, 1909, in Union Township, to Albert and Martha (Ward) Dohner. On Feb. 4, 1932, she married Emerson Everett Haines, and together they shared a life for 60 years.
Estella graduated from Newton High School Class of 1928 and worked as a cook at Joyland Restaurant in Pleasant Hill, and as an assistant cook at Camp Lakeview in Goodrich, Mich. She was a longtime member of the Pleasant Hill Brethren in Christ Church where she resided as president of the Ladies Sewing Circle and was involved in many ministries for the Memorial Holiness Camp, West Milton. She enjoyed spending time fishing with Emerson, sewing and crocheting. She also enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds and the Indianapolis 500.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emerson; daughter, Vera M. Haines; sister, Jeannette Dohner; brothers,
Edgar Dohner and Ward Dohner.
She will be missed and remembered by her daughter, Charlene M. Haines of Pleasant Hill; sisters, Eva Hoover and Fay Lindsay; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Pleasant Hill Brethren in Christ Church, 101 West Hill St., Pleasant Hill. Pastor John Weaver will officiate with interment following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, 1 S. Main St., Pleasant Hill. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the the Brethren Retirement Community Resident Fund, 750 Chestnut Street, Greenville, Ohio 45331, State of the Heart Hospice, 1350 N Broadway St
