PIQUA — H. Jean Dershem, 93, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at 5:40 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, at her home. She was born April 17, 1925, in Miami County, to the late Melvin and Bessie (Morris) Adams. She married Dale C. "Sammy" Dershem Jan. 27, 194,5 in Indiana; he preceded her in death Jan. 9, 1987.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Bushnell of Piqua; three sons, Ron (Dee) Dershem of Davisburg, Michigan, Fred Dershem of Springboro, Dave (Theresa) Dershem of Piqua; 10 grandchildren, Dusty Dershem, Carmen Ballard, Kevin Dershem, Keri Macklin Dick, Matt Bushnell, Amy O'Brien, Andrew Dershem, Graham Hardesty, Becky Sutton, Michael Slaven; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister, Vivian Kinnison; and three brothers, Marion Adams, Max (Gloria) Adams, and Sam (Jackie) Adams.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Dale, Melvin, Verlin, Bob; and one sister, Jeannette Nicholas.

Jean was a 1944 graduate of Newton High School. She worked many occupations over the years including fabricating gliders at Waco, as a canner at the tomato cannery, but when she was asked, she would tell people she was a farmer first.

She was a member of the Covington Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, reading, gardening, fishing and camping. She was the "family photographer" and enjoyed documenting her family and their lives through photographs, which she kept in many photo albums. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends.

A service to honor her life will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Andy Monnin officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington. Visitation will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
