James W. John

NORWALK, Iowa - James W. John, 80, of Norwalk, Iowa, passed away at Bright Kavanagh House on Nov. 17, 2012.
Jim was born in Columbus and was raised in Piqua, graduating with the Class of 1949. He attended The Ohio State University, graduating in 1954 with a degree in business. He proudly played football for Ohio State under Coach Woody Hayes. He served in the armed forces and was honorably discharged.
He married Elizabeth "Betsy" Clark on May 29, 1954, and had a son, Timothy and daughter, Kimberly.
He was president of Harmon Contract Ltd UK division in Milton Keynes, England from 1988-92 and was a vice president and division manager for Harmon Contract in Dallas Texas from 1982-88. Prior to working for Harmon contract, Jim was a part owner of Forman Ford Company in Des Moines, Iowa, from July 1962 to July 1982. A few of his proudest career accomplishments were the building of the LTV Building and Crystal Palace in Dallas, Texas; Little Britain in London, England and the Twin Towers in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia. He also was a friend of Bill for 36 years. He was an avid snowmobiler, Ohio State Buckeye fan and enjoyed boating at Clear Lake with his family.
Jim was a great friend to many and was devoted and loyal to his family and friends. Jim is survived by his wife, Betsy; son, Timothy (Pamela) John; daughter, Kimberly (Rick) Milliken; grandchildren, Nicole (John) Davidson, Erin (Joe) Klug and Katie John; Shawn (Johanna) Milliken and Connor Milli]ken; three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Tanner and Lauren Davidson and soon-to-be-born, Dove John. He also is survived by his brothers, Richard (Ruth) and William; sister, Sue (Larry) Gau; and a whole host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will all miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Winona John and father, Richard John.
