TROY - Jennie Elizabeth "Betty" Kohlhorst, 89, died at 9:12 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. She was born Jennie Elizabeth Agenbroad in Piqua on March 9, 1923, to the late John Walton and Edith Naomi (Brehm) Agenbroad. On Dec. 18, 1943, in Taunton, Mass., she married Paul R. Kohlhorst. He passed away Nov. 2, 2012.
Betty is also survived by one son: Thomas Kohlhorst, Piqua; one daughter and son-in-law: Kathie and John Isenhouer, Piqua; four grandchildren: Lori Kohlhorst, Troy, Kevin (Amy) Kohlhorst, Fletcher, Michael Kohlhorst, Piqua and Robin (Rob) Myers, Piqua; and six great grandchildren: Kortney and Kelsey Mullin, Cameron Hines, Damien and Hunter Kohlhorst and Braden Myers. She was preceded in death by one son: Kenneth Kohlhorst and two brothers: Kenneth and Elwood Agenbroad and one granddaughter: Julie Christine Kohlhorst.
Betty was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and served on the altar society of the church. She had served as a volunteer in the school cafeteria for many years as well as many church festivals.
Betty graduated from Piqua High School in 1942. Her first job after graduation was in the office at J.C. Penney in Piqua. She later worked in the office at Lear Aviation in Piqua. She also worked as a switch board operator for Ohio Bell in Piqua. Betty retired from Piqua Memorial Hospital after 15 years of service where she worked in admitting and medical records.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home, Piqua, with the Rev. Fr. Thomas Bolte officiating. Friends may call from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
