John Lee Puterbaugh

ENGLEWOOD - John Lee Puterbaugh, 80, of Englewood, formerly of West Milton, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Oct. 24, 1932, in Dayton. Preceded in death by his father, Robert Arthur Puterbaugh; mother, Irene Wanda (Cohan) Ziehler; step-father, Vernon Joseph Ziehler; brother, Richard Alan Puterbaugh.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Deane Janis (Werts) Puterbaugh; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Karen Puterbaugh of Kernersville, N.C. Jerry and Sharon Puterbaugh of West Milton; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl Puterbaugh and Brendan Bonham of Tampa, Fla., Judy and Todd Broaddus of Alamogordo, N.M.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Kathryn Jeane Ziehler of Huber Heights.
John served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was retired from Reynolds and Reynolds, worked for many years at Patterson's Flowers, was a member of West Milton United Church of Christ Church Choir, Miami Valley Folkdancers, past president of West Milton Lion's Club and played Santa Claus in the West Milton area for many years. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren, fishing and crossword puzzles.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami St., West Milton, with the Rev. Mark Moore officiating, burial to follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
