PIQUA - Richard E. McKee, 92, of Piqua, died at 1:03 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2013, at the Piqua Manor Nursing Home with his family at his side. He was born March 19, 1921, in Piqua to the late Harold C. and Maude (Faehl) McKee. He married Betty "Babe" S. Bissett on April 19, 1940, in Troy; and she survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Myrna S. Glassburn of Urbana; a granddaughter, Micki S. (Jody) Lamb; a great- grandson, Leighton Lamb; two cousins; two sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews who all fondly knew him as Uncle Micky. He was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Mr. McKee attended Piqua City Schools and retired in 1978 from the electrical department of the city of Piqua. He was a United States Army veteran having served during World War II. In addition to his family, he enjoyed camping, fishing, and sailing. His family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of both Piqua Manor Nursing Home and Sterling House of Piqua.
A service to honor his life will begin at 2 p.m. Monday, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with the Rev. Kazy Blocher Hinds officiating and conclude with full military honors provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. His family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
