DAYTON — Ronald C. Vanderhorst, 71, son of Lawrence (Whitey) and Hilda Hartings Vanderhorst, both deceased, went to be with Jesus at 1:43 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton. He left behind his beloved wife of almost 50 years, Anne Moorman Vanderhorst.

He is also survived by their five dear sons and wives: Chris and Amy, Craig and Karen, Rob, Eric and Wendy, and Todd and Maria. He leaves 13 grandchildren: Ryan and wife Michelle, Rachel, Ben, Matt, Alyson, Cara, Krista, Andrew, Cael, Alexandra, Chase, Ramse, and Samson, and two great-grandchildren, Makayla and Makenzie. He also leaves behind three brothers/wives: Jerry and Carol Vanderhorst, Denny and Sally Vanderhorst, and Glenn and Dana Vanderhorst, and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ron and Mary Cain, plus Uncle Ed Moorman, Aunt Margie Blandford, Uncle Carl Moorman and Aunt Virginia Moorman, and Aunt Lucille Monnin, plus many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ron was a CPA for many years and had many clients who became great friends. He was very active in St. Teresa Parish, Covington, and served as a choir member (with his rich, deep voice), a lector, Eucharistic Minister, usher, fund raiser, Parish Council President, and financial advisor throughout the years. He dearly loved his family and was an avid card player, always being the one designated to keep score with his quick mind for numbers. He also enjoyed camping, traveling, cooking, and especially reading. He will be sorely missed!
