PIQUA — Rollin "Gene" Meeds, 86, of Piqua, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at Upper Valley Medical Center. He was born April 28, 1927, in Brock, to the late Cary and Mary (Curtis) Meeds. He married Lillian M. Waltz on November 14, 1950 in Piqua; she preceded him in death on Nov. 19, 2010.
Survivors include two sons, Roy (Terri) Meeds of Piqua and Jim Meeds of Marion; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Donnie Deal of Piqua. He was preceded in death by a brother, Doyle Meeds; and a sister, Mick Farling.
Gene served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from the former Rogers Cadillac of Piqua, and had also worked for Schlingman Buick-Cadillac. He was a member of the Eagles 614, and enjoyed fishing and camping.
A funeral service to honor his life will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, at Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Chalk officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, where full military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
