Philip S. Sullenberger Sr.

PIQUA — Philip S. Sullenberger Sr., 89, of Piqua, died at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2014. at the Dayton VA Medical Center. He was born Dec. 21, 1924 ,in Piqua to the late Frank and Gladys Sullenberger. He married Norma J. Miller June 28, 1952, in Piqua; and she survives.

Other survivors include a son, Philip S. (Brenda) Sullenberger Jr. of Piqua; a daughter ,Vicki (Tim) Petry; seven grandchildren, Jeremy (Shannon) Sullenberger, Lindsey Sullenberger, Joshua (Angie) Sullenberger, Zane (Valerie) Petry, Bradley Petry, Zachary (Erica) Petry, Lacey (Scott) Sauer; seven great-grandchildren, Landon Sullenberger, Davis Sullenberger, Eli Petry, Isaac Petry, Hunter Petry, Shelby Petry, Garrett Petry; and a sister Jane VanGordon of Piqua. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas, Richard and Ralph Sullenberger.

Mr. Sullenberger was a graduate of Piqua Central High School and retired from the French Oil Mill Machinery Company as a wood patternmaker. He was a United States Army veteran having served during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 184 and the V. F. W. Post 4874. He enjoyed his family and helping people.

A service to honor his life will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Gary Petry officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery where full military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
