SIDMEY — Thomas J. Sekas, 78, of Sidney, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2014. at 8:45 p.m. at the Dorothy Love Retirement Community. He was born Nov. 29, 1935 in Piqua, the son of the late Nicholas and Francis (Birkenheuer) Sekas.

He is survived by four children, Joyce Reier, Tom Sekas (Susan) both of Sidney, Tim Sekas (Diane) of Minster and Susan Anderson (Gregg) of Sidney; two sisters, Holly Eby (Phil) of Miami, Fla. and Rose Ross (Larry) of Covington; one brother, Bill Sekas of Sidney; 14 grandchildren, Kara, Joni, Tony, Nick, Jacob, Danielle, Brad, Brian, Ben, Brad, Jared, Scott, Jenna and Ellie; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. He was preceded in death by one, son, Jerry Sekas; and six siblings, Mike and Jim Sekas, Peg Michael, Katie Schneider, Anna Yount, and Angie Sexauer.

Mr. Sekas served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1958. He was the owner/operator of the former Dixie Oil Co., and later worked for Cooper Jarrett Trucking Co., and Stolle Corp, before retiring from the Shelby County Engineer's Office.

Tom was an avid Notre Dame Fan and member of the Sidney Elks Lodge, Knights of Columbus, Eagles, Moose, American Legion and VFW.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at Holy Angels Catholic Church with the Revs. Daniel Schmitmeyer and Daniel Hess officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Sidney at a later date. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., Sidney. Services will be conducted by the Sidney Elks Lodge and Knights of Columbus Wednesday evening at 7:45 p.m.
