PIQUA — Ruby L. Leonard, 81, of Piqua, died at 9 p.m. Monday, May 26, 2014, at her residence. She was born Oct. 3, 1932, in Miami County to the late Charles and Boneita E. (Sargent) Knick. She married Paul C. Denning on Sept. 24, 1954, and he preceded her in death Nov. 25, 1984; she then married Bill R. Leonard on July 29, 1989 in Piqua; and he survives.
Other survivors include a son, Kevin E. (Lori) Denning of Piqua; a daughter, Deedy (Jeff) Curtis of Piqua; step-children, Krys (Joe) Davidson of Liberty Township, Mike (Jill) Leonard of Troy, Cherrie (Billy) Buckwalter of Beavercreek; six grandchildren, Lindsey (Nate) Penrod, Kelsey (Ryan) Klopp, Courtney (Kenneth Brunson) Denning, Brittney Denning, Nathan (Dana) Leonard, Amy (Matt) Smallenbarger; six great-grandchildren; and her faithful dog, Zoie. She was preceded in death by a sister, Imogene Smith, and a brother, Bill Knick.
Mrs. Leonard was a graduate of Covington High School and worked for over 23 years at the Copeland Corp. of Sidney. She was an active member of the Piqua Salvation Army and its Senior Citizens group. She enjoyed her family, fishing, playing cards and following the Cincinnati Reds.
A service to honor her life will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2014, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Captain Douglas Dolder officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
