COVINGTON — Morris E. Franke, 79, of Covington, died at 1:46 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy. He was born March 27, 1935, in Covington, to the late Roy and Lucille Franke. On Aug. 2, 2006, he married Hazel M. "Bee" Kiser. She survives.
Morris is survived by one step-daughter: Jayme "Bee" Lewellen, Oklahoma City, Okla.; three step-grandchildren, Jason Nygard, Little Rock, Ariz. Shanda Nygard, St. Louis, Mo. and Justyn Samac, Oklahoma City, Okla. He was preceded in death in 2004 by his first wife, Virginia Franke.
Morris graduated from Piqua Central High School in 1953. He proudly served in the Army National Guard in Piqua for several years. Morris was a Foreman at Hobart Corp in Troy, for more than 25 years receiving the Hobart Quarter Century Club. He was also a farmer for many years. He was a member of Covington Fraternal Order of the Eagles and AmVets in Bradford. Morris loved trains and especially model railroading which he had a large collection.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, at Miami Memorial Park, Covington. Arrangements are being handled by Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home, Piqua.
