BELLBROOK — Gene H. Sargent was born June 20, 1938, in Bradford, to Margaret Glendora (Hill) and Herbert Earl Sargent.
He graduated from Bradford High School in 1956, General Motors Institute in 1960 and earned his master's degree from the University of Dayton in 1962. Gene grew up on a chicken farm and learned early in his life the value of hard work. When he was younger, Gene enjoyed camping. His family will remember his enjoyment of popcorn, bacon and eggs and cashews. Gene was an avid reader, especially of anything science-related. Besides his family, he loved computers the most. He had a unique understanding of electronics and built his own computer and color TV. He and a few associates engineered the stacker crane for Delco Products.
Gene retired from G.M. (E.D.S.), where he worked as a systems engineer, after 39 years of employment.
He passed away Thursday July 31, 2014, at Bethany Village in Centerville. He was preceded in death by his parents. Gene is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary C.
