PIQUA - Rita Mae Cain, 89, of Piqua, formerly of Tipp City, passed away Friday, April 26, 2013, at the Upper Valley Medical Center.
She was born in Miami County on Sept. 11, 1923, to the late William and Edith (Macy) Gray. She was a graduate of Tippecanoe High School, Class of 1942, worked as a clerk at Cramer's Drug Store, Tipp City, was a member of Mites Society and Nashville United Church of Christ, West Milton; an avid Cincinnati Reds fan and liked to quilt, but her family was first.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Cain, in 1992; grandson, Daniel Kihm, in 2006; two brothers, Keith and Kenneth Gray; and sister, Glenna Mason.
Rita is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cathy (Cain) and Dennis Rhoades of Piqua; two grandchildren, Maria and husband, Jim Hicks of Gettysburg and Doug Kihm of Piqua; seven great-grandchildren, Josh, Macy Jayden, Marissa, Shelby, Seth, and Jace; special niece, Lisa Kerrick of Springboro; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She will be missed by Moose, Benji, Maizie, and Jughead.
The family will receive friends 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday at Bridges-Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Covington. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Covington. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Nashville United Church of Christ, West Milton with the Rev. Lynn Labs officiating.
