Aaron Tuneberg

Aaron Matthew Tuneberg passed away on Tuesday, April 8th. Aaron was born on August 23rd, 1983 in Boulder, Colorado. He went to elementary school and junior high in Boulder and then in Fort Collins. He graduated from Monarch High School in Louisville in 2002. He successfully completed the SOAR program in Dubois, WY in the spring of 2004 and the following academic year attended the Transitions to Independence Program at Brehm Academy in Carbondale, IL. Since returning to Colorado in the spring of 2005 he has lived independently in Fort Collins and then Boulder. Aaron, a beloved son, brother, and uncle, was a wonderful man. Because of the developmental disability he was born with his life was difficult, and with the support of many people he worked hard to create an independent life for himself - living in his own apartment, caring for his cat Jack, and pursuing his passion for low rider bicycles. Although life was often challenging for him, he learned to face these challenges and became a part of the Boulder community. He regularly participated in the Boulder Thursday Cruisers bike rides on his low rider bike. The Cruisers are organizing a special ride in honor of Aaron on April 24 and all are welcome to join. He is survived by his mother and stepfather Gale and Tim Boonstra of Erie, CO, his father Jerry Tuneberg of Fort Collins, CO, his stepmother Jan Nerger also of Fort Collins, CO, his sisters Sarah Tuneberg and Rachel Weston Rowell of Denver, CO, his brother, Jansson Tuneberg of Fort Collins, CO as well aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a community of people who all considered Aaron to be part of their family. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Aaron Matthew Tuneberg Memorial Fund. Proceeds will ultimately be used to support the community and people living with disabilities. These tax deductible charitable contributions in the name of the fund can be sent to: Noel Culbertson, Morgan Stanley, One Boulder Plaza, 1800 Broadway, Suite 120, Boulder, CO 80302. (720- 562-6200) A memorial service to celebrate Aaron will be held on Sunday at 12:30pm at Congregation Har Ha Shem (3950 Baseline Rd, Boulder, CO 80303). All family and friends are welcome.
