Dwight Brigham

Dr. Dwight Brigham passed away at Balfour Cherrywood Village in Louisville, CO on January 11, 2013. He was born on December 21, 1919 to Norman Reed and Emily (Wentworth) Brigham in Omaha, NE. He married Doroethea Kathleen Stroh on January 25, 1958 in Omaha, NE, by her father Rev. H.J. Stroh. Dr. Brigham graduated from Omaha Central High School in 1938. He attended Oberlin College for 2 years, the University of Nebraska Medical School, did his Internship in Worchester, MA and his Pediatric residency at Children's Hospital University of Nebraska. He was a professor of Pediatrics at University of Nebraska Medical Clinic and a founding member of the Greeley Clinic in 1952. He retired in 1990. He is the past president of the Weld County Medical Society, past Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at University of Colorado. He was a member of the Jaycees, Elks, President of the Greeley Central Booster Club in 1972, and a founding member of the Greeley Woodworker's Club. He was a member of the ROTC during high school and college and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Dr. Brigham enjoyed the outdoors, skiing, hunting, fishing, river rafting and backpacking. He was an extraordinary artist who excelled at water color painting, woodworking and cabinet making. Dr. Brigham was a good citizen with a heart of gold. He was loved by his patients and their families and spent countless hours volunteering in the Greeley area providing well baby checks for immigrant families and free clinics. He is survived by his children, Nathan Van Bergen, John Brigham, and Timothy Brigham, all of CA, Matt Brigham, Greeley, Lisbeth Moores, Boulder, Jennifer Brigham, Denver and Rebekah Brigham, St. Charles, IL; sister Eleanor Cotton, Omaha, NE; 7 granddaughters, 12 grandsons; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 2, 2013, at the First Congregational Church, 2101 16th Street, Greeley.
