Earl D. Yaffe passed away peacefully on October 18, 2013, at the age of 90. He was born September 6, 1923, in Chicago, IL to Jacob and Beebe Yaffe. He was a distinguished veteran of the "greatest generation" serving in the Army
Air Corp. He completed 50 bombing missions over Europe during WWII
. Earl was stationed at Buckley Field east Denver for training prior to his deployment to Italy. This is where the seed of his passion developed to someday return to the Rocky Mountains to live. Earl graduated with honors from Northwestern University
School of Law. He was a member of the Illinois Bar and Trial Lawyers Associations. He practiced law in Chicago, IL for 50 years. Earl had many diverse interests and achievements-too many to mention here. Earl spent his retirement years at his home in the mountains, enjoying the company of family and friends. He was blessed with, and survived by, his wife of 64 years, Ruth; his sister Gladys (Sherman) Keats; three loving children-Jean Schloesslin (Mark), David Yaffe (Christie) and Don Yaffe (Nancy); his loving grandchildren-Meredith Mankwitz, Brett Sharp, Lake Sharp, Paul Lippitt, and Paris Yaffe.
