Marjorie Nell Pickett, 94, of Louisville, Colorado passed away on July 29, 2013. Marjorie was born in Del Carbon, Colorado, on January 15, 1919, to Earl William and Emily Mabel (Weston) Pickett. The Pickett family moved to Louisville around 1923, and Marjorie graduated from Louisville High School. She attended the University of Colorado School of Pharmacy, and upon graduation in 1942 she enlisted in the United States Navy
where she served as Chief Pharmacist Mate at Mare Island Naval Hospital in San Francisco, California. At the end of World War II
she returned to Colorado where she worked at Mercy Hospital in Denver, then went on to serve as the Chief Pharmacist at General Rose Memorial Hospital in Denver until her retirement in 1974. Marjorie was very active in the professional women's service organization, Zonta International, for over 50 years, holding many offices including District Governor. She enjoyed traveling the world with family and friends, and loved animals and gardening. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Nona Smethills of Golden, Colorado; and her brother, Earl Weston Pickett of Louisville, Colorado. She is survived by the families of her nephews, Don Pickett, Mike Pickett, and Harold Smethills; and nieces, Midge Eberharter and Sue Anne Flaherty. A visitation and reception will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2013, at Louisville Methodist Church beginning at 12:00 P.M., followed by a funeral service at 1:00. Interment will take place at Mountain View Cemetery in Boulder, Colorado.
