Carolyn Bartos Obituary
Carolyn "Linny" McLean Bartos died in the arms of her loving husband, Otomar Bartos, at their home in Boulder on Tuesday, February 26, 2013. She was 80. Linny was born in Tacoma, Washington, on June 16, 1932 to Emil Victor Lindseth and Audrey Medora Yeo Lindseth. She grew up in Denver and graduated from East High School. Linny received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Colorado in 1954 where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority and Phi Beta Kappa. Later on, she served as a flight attendant for United Airlines before marrying Richard McLean in 1955. They had two children, Scott and Joan, and later divorced but remained life-long friends. When her children were old enough to go to school, Linny returned to CU, earning a PhD in Clinical Psychology in 1975. She served as Assistant Director of the Raimy Psychology Clinic at CU and maintained a successful private practice in psychology for many years. In 1981, Linny married Otomar Jan Bartos, Professor of Sociology at the University of Colorado. Oto was the love of her life (he never missed fixing her a martini at 5 PM) and the two enjoyed over 30 years of marriage together, travelling, skiing, and even (occasionally) swimming together. Linny was great fun to be around and was known for her sense of humor and enthusiasm for life. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and former colleagues. She is survived by her husband, Otomar Bartos; her children, Scott McLean (Ginny Doers) and Joan McLean Braun (David); her brother, Richard E. Lindseth; her step-children Joe Bartos (Christine Leitner), Peter Bartos (Brandie), David Bartos, Mary Bartos, Jim Bartos (Alma); and ten grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, March 6, at the Darrell Howe Mortuary Chapel, 1701 W South Boulder Road, Lafayette, with interment to follow in Green Mountain Cemetery.
