Clarence Gibson Obituary
Pete passed away peacefully at his home in Louisville, CO on a beautiful spring day, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday March 25, 2013. He was born in Booneville, KY on June 13, 1923 to Nancy Barrett and John Gibson and he spent his childhood on a farm in Owsley County, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings and a daughter. He is survived by his wife, Kathy, two sons (Michael and Bill) and two daughters (Beverly and Brynda) and their families. He and Kathy were married on September 8, 1968, in the First Christian Church in Boulder, CO and were together for 44 years. They shared many wonderful and happy years with the usual ups and downs and blessings that everyone has and their togetherness always included "I love you." Pete lived in many parts of the country and enjoyed living the last 44 years in Colorado and calling Louisville and the Rocky Mountains home. He enjoyed many activities available in his adopted hometown of Louisville. He attended Boulder Valley Christian Church, was a member of the Louisville Senior Center and the Tri-City Elks Club. He was stationed in the Philippines during World War II and was a proud soldier who delighted in sharing many of his experiences from that time. For many years he was a talented mechanic who not only was trained extensively but trained others in this field. In his later years he was employed as a brewery worker at Adolph Coors Company in Golden and retired from Coors in 1994. Pete will be tenderly missed and always remembered for his happy heart, his charming ways and his warm smile. He had a kind word and a funny joke for anyone who crossed his path. Lord, graciously wrap your arms around Pete, who was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a true friend. Give him the peace, joy and love of your heavenly home. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday April 1, 2013, at Boulder Valley Christian Church, 7100 South Boulder Road, Boulder, followed by a reception at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to TRU Community Care (formerly Hospice), 2594 Trailridge Dr. East, Lafayette, CO 80026; and the Louisville Senior Center, 900 W. Via Appia, Louisville, CO 80027.
