Ina Wellborn Obituary
Ina Wellborn, a long-time resident of the Boulder area, died in Louisville on New Year's Day at age 89. She was born November 23, 1923, in Cassidy, Kansas, to Lewis S. Macklin and Blanche Edna Morgan Macklin. She grew up on a farm near Leon, Kansas where she attended high school, then moved to Eldorado, Kansas where she graduated from high school and attended Eldorado Junior College. On March 28, 1943, Ina married Leo F. Wellborn in Eldorado, Kansas. They moved from Dodge City, Kansas, to Boulder in 1956 where they were the owners of Wellborn Machine Co. until Leo's retirement in 1998. They moved from Boulder to Niwot in 1997. Leo died January 8, 2000. Ina loved to travel and enjoyed many trips with Leo during their retirement. They especially enjoyed traveling in their motor home and their partnership at the Flying X Ranch in Wheatland, Wy. Family was all important to Ina. She relished family get-togethers and loved the swirl of activities of her children and grandchildren. She was gregarious and could strike up a conversation with anyone. On her 80th birthday, one of her granddaughters described her as an" amazing, smart, beautiful, funny, strong woman" a reflection of how much she was loved and admired by her family. Survivors include a son, Daryl Wellborn of Wheatland, Wy; two daughters, Vicki Juhl (Earl) of Boulder and Beverley Dare (Tom) of Lakewood; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and ten nieces and nephews. Her parents, and four sisters and brothers preceded her in death. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 5, at 11 a.m. at Crist Mortuary Chapel, 3395 Penrose Place in Boulder. Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Park. Contributions can be made to The Community Foundation of Boulder County-Leo F. and Ina M. Wellborn Family Fund, 1123 Spruce Street, Boulder, CO 80302. The Community Foundation strives to improve the quality of life in Boulder County.
