We are sad to announce the passing of Jeanette Shirley Brown of Boulder, CO, daughter of William and Hilda (Kornitz) Thode. Jeanette was born in 1928 in Milwaukee, WI. She was a strong advocate for education, believing that this would help men and women achieve their full potential. Jeanette quickly realized that by becoming an educator herself she could help people accomplish their dreams and aspirations. She received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1957. Jeanette loved travel and she had a pioneer spirit that led her to Boulder and the rugged beauty of Colorado. She obtained her Masters in Education from the University of Colorado in 1962 and was a teacher in Boulder Valley Schools (Broomfield High) for over 20 years. Throughout her adult life Jeanette was a champion for helping women attain equal professional and social status and saw education, travel, and acceptance of all cultures as a means of promoting equality. Jeanette was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Shirley Thode, and nephew, Kent Thode. Jeanette is survived by her proud and supportive brother, Ralph Thode; her grateful, inspired, and loving sons, Rick Brown (Julie Auch), Randy Brown (Carol Brown), and Rodney Brown; her loving nieces and nephews, Denise (Thode) Green, Stacey (Green) Kaiser, Tony Green and Justin Green.
