Obituary Condolences

Marilyn Jean Swan Heinly, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013 after a long illness. She died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. Memorial services will be held in Steamboat Springs, Colorado next Summer. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. Marilyn was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 1, 1930. She was the daughter of the late D. Walter Swan and Dorothy Waite Swan. She was the devoted mother to five children, grandmother to twenty-five grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren, who were so special to her as well. Marilyn graduated from Hinsdale (Illinois) Township High School where she was on the National Honor Society and received a coveted P.H.T. degree (Putting Husband Through), from the University of Colorado after attending Colorado College. She was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority and later was an active alumnus, helping plan and build the chapter house at the University in Boulder. Marilyn was a member of the Wai'oli Hui'ia Church in Hanalei, Hawaii and Euzoa Bible Church in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. She and her husband raised their children in Boulder, Colorado and she was active politically from the Eisenhower years forward. In retirement, their time was divided between Steamboat Springs and Hawaii, plus time in RV's and other travels. She is survived by her husband, Hank, whom she married in 1949. She is additionally survived by Dave (Bonnie), Mark (Paula), Andy (Nancy), Lori Pitner (John), Scott Bacon (Sue) and Robyn, plus her adored grand and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dan. She would be honored of any donations in her memory to Young Life, P.O. Box 520, Colorado Springs, CO 80901, Attn: Gift Designation 4110 R.W.O.K. (Reaching World of Kids) in memory of Marilyn Heinly.
