Michael and Thora Chinnery Obituary
We regret to announce the passing of Michael and Thora Chinnery. Thora passed away on June 17th, 2012, of complications related to Interstitial Lung Fibrosis. Michael passed on December 29th, 2012, of complications related to dementia and the loss of his beloved wife. They are survived by their two daughters, Anne and Brenda, and their granddaughter Sidney. Mike and Thora were a vibrant part of the Boulder community, and will be greatly missed. Thora had many dear friends, volunteered at the Boulder Sherriff's Office, and was an active writer. Mike was the Director of the National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC) in Boulder for years before retirement, was an active member of the Torch club, and an avid bridge player. Together, they loved their home in Boulder, spending time with friends, and traveling. There is no way to say in words the loss we feel at their passing. No burial or funeral will be held at their request - both Mike and Thora asked that their remains be donated to science. The family sincerely thanks everyone who has offered their support and condolences, and suggests that if desired, donations may be made in their name to the World Wildlife Fund.
