Samuel Gambrell Obituary
Samuel William Gambrell passed away in the early morning hours of October 2nd, 2013 in Niwot, Colorado. Sam was born October 29, 1991 in Kerrville, Texas. He moved with his family to Longmont, Colorado at Christmastime 2002. He attended Rocky Mountain Christian Academy, St. John's Catholic School, Holy Family and Niwot High School, making wonderful friends and memories all along the way. He graduated from the Oakley School in Oakley, Utah in 2010 and was a student at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah. Sam never met a person he did not like, and his genuine kindness touched everyone who knew him. A keen intelligence, boundless creativity and a deep kindness defined him. He was empathic, caring and a great listener - always interested in what any other person had to say. His sense of humor knew no bounds and to the very last day of his life, he was laughing and reminiscing about fun and crazy times with siblings and wonderful friends. He was deeply appreciative of all the people he had known and loved, grateful for the jobs he had had, and the schools he had attended. Most especially, he was grateful for the friendships made during his time at the Oakley School, and considered his fellow students there to be extensions of his own family. Sam had been burdened the last several years of his life with a mood illness. He struggled mightily but it ultimately became a burden he could no longer carry. He left behind loving letters to his family in which he described feeling, at last, a sense of peace. Sam is survived by his parents Bill and Courtney Gambrell, his beloved siblings Katie-Grace Gambrell and Jack Gambrell, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by the grandmother he adored, Jean Gambrell and by the great aunt who lived always in his heart, Leona Hanna. A service of gratitude for Sam's life will be held Sat. Oct. 5th at 4 p.m., Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont. A reception will follow at the home of his parents. Visit www.ahlbergfuneralchapel.com to share condolences.
