Obituary Condolences

Evelyn Alice Smith passed away April 19, 2014 in Longmont. Evelyn was born August 29, 1918 in Louisville, CO to John C. Smith and Florence may Summers Smith (Fultz). She is preceded in death by her brother John Edgar Smith. Evelyn married Lawrence Cochran Littlejohn (deceased), and made their home in Boulder. Evelyn was an accomplished bookkeeper in her working career. She also headed up a children's department for a department store and took great delight in choosing clothes and toys for the little ones. Evelyn loved to do many things. Her vegetable and flower gardens were always the envy of her neighbors. However, many enjoyed the produce she shared. Evelyn loved to knit and crochet. She could read a pattern and in a short time the creation was made. One Christmas many people sported new knitted caps in a rainbow of colors. Afghans were crocheted for babies to them toasty warm. Any craft that took Evelyn's eye was tried and enjoyed to the fullest, she even taught herself to oil paint. The finished product was always shared as long as it measured up! Evelyn was a very good cook and loved to bake. Cookies, pies, cakes and casseroles went from her kitchen to many a Boulder location. Evelyn loved the Lord dearly. She took bible study fellowship for five years, Bethel and other studies. She served faithfully for many years on the First Presbyterian Church prayer chain, and served in any way she felt she could help. Evelyn most of all loved being a stay at home wife and mother. She devoted herself to her family and loved every day of it. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Evelyn traveled extensively in the U.S., Hawaii, Alaska, U.K., Europe, Mediterranean, North Africa, Canada, Polynesia, Bavaria, and Scandinavia. She was a member of Queen Ester Chapter 5 Eastern Star, Lady Elks, First Presbyterian Church of Boulder, and served on the advisory boards for Rainbow Girls of Boulder, Camp Fire Girls of Boulder, community chest, and many others. Evelyn belonged to bridge clubs with her many good friends, as well as Explorers Club where friends studied interesting places all over the world. She also belonged to a sewing club where everyone worked on their projects and had delicious tea. Funeral services will be held 2pm Wednesday April 23, 2014 at Crist Mortuary 3395 Penrose Pl., Boulder. Interment to follow at Mountain View Memorial Park Boulder.
