Howard Ditzel Obituary
Howard was a third generation Boulder native. His Great Grandparents Homesteaded in Boulder in 1872. Howard loved the Farm Homestead and drove the family tractor and just about every other motorized vehicle at a very early age. Howard attended the Pleasant View School, Foothills Elementary, Casey Junior High, and BoulderHigh School. Howard served in the US Army during Vietnam era and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. Howard received several medals during his service period. Upon his return from the Service, he became well known for his mechanical skills and for driving the AA Top Fuel race car "Sugar Cane". Howard lived in the Town of Ward, Co for more than 20 years. He was always available to help the local residents with mechanical repairs. He kept the Town Backhoe up and running and often serviced the Gold Hill Fire Department vehicles. Howard was preceded in death by his parents Fred L. Ditzel and Lucille (Gallagher) Ditzel. He is survived by his sister Shirley and her husband Earl Schaller, his cat "Jet" and his many friends of Ward, Gold Hill, Jamestown and Nederland. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indian Peaks Fire Department, PO Box 205 Ward, Co 80481. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for July 18, 2014 from 3 -6 pm at the UCC Church of Ward on Modoc Street. Very casual dress is encouraged. Share memories and condolences at
