Mark Fischer Obituary

Mark William Fischer, 56, of Boulder, died early morning Wednesday August 1, 2012 from complications of bladder cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family, at the Hospice Care Center in Louisville. Mark was born to Betty & Bill Fischer and raised in College Park, Maryland. He is survived by his beloved wife Kim, of 34 years; his children Erin Kelly, Sarah Anne and husband Rich, and Luke William; his mother Betty; his sisters Ruth Fischer, Beth Reasoner, and Rebecca Goossen; and many loving relatives and friends. Mark was a graduate of Grinnell College, where he met his wife Kim Connelly Fischer and developed a love of theater, especially designing and building sets. Mark & Kim moved to Boulder in 1987 for Mark to attend law school at CU, and remained there to raise their family. Mark worked as an attorney, a consultant, and most recently as Vice President, Product Management at CQG in Denver. His abiding passion was his family, and he took his greatest pride in being a good father to Erin, Sarah, and Luke. Mark was a problem solver and a wise counselor to many, both personally and professionally. He was also a self-described 'nerd' who loved science fiction, his iPad, and music in all forms. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 5th at 10:00 AM at Rembrandt Yard, 1301 Spruce Street, Boulder. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Dairy Center for the Arts - Mark Fischer Memorial Fund or Hospice of Boulder & Broomfield Counties.

I was blessed to know Mark for a short while as his Yoga teacher while he went through chemo. I probably learned more from Mark than he did from me. He will forever have a place in my heart. Sending strength and love to his family, as these qualities were ones Mark showed up with every time he stepped on to his mat to practice.
