Donald “Don” Alcorn a lifelong native of Boulder, CO went home to be with the Lord on November 4, 2013 at the Balfour Reserve. He was 83 years old. Don was born September 18, 1930 in Boulder, CO to LeRoy and Miriam (Long) Alcorn. He graduated from Boulder High School in 1949 where he was a football player, played clarinet in the band, and was a member of the chess and checkers club. He also began taking dance lessons and enjoyed water skiing. Don then went on to graduate from the University of Colorado. He served in the Air Force for four years in the Korean War; and was stationed in Colorado Springs, California and Texas. On July 31, 1976 Don married Grace Dovala at the First Presbyterian Church Chapel in downtown Boulder. In his younger days he worked for the Denver and Rio Grande railroad, and for the Colorado Insurance Group. Don then worked as a Computer Systems Programmer for the University of Colorado for 30 years. He loved his job and was a huge CU Buffs fan. Don loved Colorado the only time he lived away from Boulder was when he was stationed out of state with the Air Force. Don attended the First Presbyterian Church of Boulder and the Bible Chapel in Louisville, CO. Don was a member of the Boulder Elks club. He enjoyed a variety of dance styles such as ballroom, waltz, polka, and disco. He and Grace won many dance competitions. Don loved traveling across the United States; and spent time doing photography, camping, playing Frisbee, doing jigsaw puzzles, and he loved his dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Neal Alcorn; and a sister Miriam Alcorn. Don is survived by his wife Grace; four sons; and one daughter. Private family services have been held. Pastor Scott Phillips, of Westview Presbyterian Church, officiated the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Michael J.
