Relda Fossett Obituary

Jane Fossett passed away peacefully on November 4, 2013 in Seattle, WA with her children by her side following complications from diabetes. She was 66. "Janie" was born on November 16, 1946 in Colby, Kansas to Emery and Viola Fossett. In 1955 the family moved to Denver, CO and Jane became the oldest sibling to Donald, Debra, and Bernice. After high school, she married and raised three children in Arvada, CO. Jane loved painting, pottery, gardening, language, traveling, and researching family history. She was extremely creative and skilled in these pursuits—her eyes witnessed so much beauty. Her passion and knowledge were lovingly passed on to her children and grandchildren. She attended continuing education classes while working in the Emergency Room of St. Anthony Hospital North. In 1989 she earned an Associates Degree of the Arts from Front Range Community College and was named on the President's Honor List. She was employed at ILE in Boulder until her retirement in 2001. Jane met Haskell C. Scott of Boulder in 1992 and they shared 14 happy years together in Louisville, CO. Upon his passing in 2006, she relocated to Seattle, WA. Jane is preceded in death by her parents Emery and Viola, several great aunts and uncles, and her partner, Haskell C. Scott. She is survived by her children Denise Archuleta of Seattle, Mandy Behrens (Patrick) of Seattle, and Arnie Archuleta of Arvada; her brother Donald Fossett (Kathryn) of Golden, Debra Krikorian (Richard) of San Pedro, CA, and Bernice Engle (Bruce) of Littleton; her grandchildren Shelby and Raymond Archuleta and Laria and Addie Behrens; and beloved nieces and nephews. One of Jane's final gifts in life was the gift of sight. Through SightLife, a non-profit eye bank focused on eliminating corneal blindness, the vision of two men was restored with Jane's corneas. A celebration of Jane's life will take place on April 6th at The Arvada Center where Jane spent many rewarding hours in their pottery studio. TO Jane's family - I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Jane with such fondness and feel fortunate to have shared a friendship with her - if only for a short time. When she moved from Short Place, she gave me a present that I treasure. It is a ceramic wall plaque that says "Bienvenidos, Mi Casa es Su Casa" It hangs in our kitchen and I think of Jane every day when I see it. May she rest in peace
