William Zelt

1933 - 2017

William O. "Bill" Zelt passed away on April 11, 2017 after an illness. Bill was born 8 July, 1933 in St. Mary, PA and moved to Colorado in July of 1963. Bill and his wife Nancy raised their family (Eric, Jeffry and Lisa) in Boulder Colorado where Bill worked as a scientific Instrument Maker at the High Altitude Observatory at the University of Colorado, and then at the National Center for Atmospheric Research. After retiring, Bill and Nancy moved to Loveland CO. Bill was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, hiking, camping and canoeing until recent health issues slowed him down. Bill shared his love of the outdoors with several generations of Boy Scouts in Boulder and Loveland CO. Bill was a gifted sculptor and woodcarver, and his work can be found in many collections in the US and in Germany. Gardening was another passion of Bill's, an activity he enjoyed until his final days. We will miss his joy in family gatherings, cooking for guests, his boundless interest in the world around him, and his zest for life. Bill leaves behind his beloved wife Nancy, sons Eric and Jeffry, and daughter Lisa. Bill was most proud of his grandson, Allen, who serves his country in the US Army, just like his grandfathers, and father. Bill is also missed dearly by his brothers John, Herb and Jerry, and by his sisters, Roseanne, Dorothy, and Helen. Bill is resting in peace, in between dancing many heavenly polkas, at Ft Logan National Cemetery, Denver CO.
