Charles Crenshaw Obituary

Charles Edward Crenshaw (aka Chuckie C, Papa, Pappy, Grandpa Goofball, Charlie and Chuck) of Niwot, Colorado, passed away Monday, May 8th at 69 years of age. He was born in Ft. Worth, Texas to Edith and Owen Crenshaw. At the age of 22 Chuck was a Captain in Vietnam, an Army Ranger who served in the 101st Airborne Division. He saw the worst side of war and returned home whole but with a perspective, respect and thoughtfulness that only war can catalyze. He was a philosopher; a CEO; an avid (if not entirely accomplished) Eric Cartman impersonator; a cyclist; an angler; a chef and gourmand who appreciated not only subtlety in cuisine but also the occasional Frito pie; a woodworker; and most importantly, a husband, father and grandfather. He had a kind, gentle, dependable nature that drew people to him. His (sometimes twisted) sense of humor brought levity even in the worst of times. He is survived by his wife Carol, and his four children and their families: Chris, Jehan, Connor and Parker of Nashville, Tennessee; Sage, Brad, Wyatt and Guillain of Los Angeles, California; Lara of Madrid, Spain; Jon, Jen and Deeno of Ithaca, New York; and his beloved Bella of Niwot. A celebration of his life will take place this summer. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Wounded Warriors or the Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies. I always google/email Chuck every 90 days or so to see how he is doing, and was totally shocked to see his obituary. Chuck was a very close friend since we met at Storage Technology in 1980. We shared an IBM background, and continued to work together at StorageTek, Econocom, and Capricorn, in the equipment sales and leasing business. While Chuck embraced his obligation and served in Viet Nam, I avoided it. He risked his life every day in one of the most dangerous capacities possible, and I would tell anybody that would listen that (in spite of his small stature and soft-spoken demeanor) he was more than twice the man I was. Carol, I hope you remember me from my visit(s) to your Niwot home, and I can't begin to tell you how sad this news is for me. I can't think of anybody whose friendship I valued more, and if I had stayed in Boulder I'm sure we would had many more memories that I could treasure. Buck Morrison

With shock and dismay we received this news... a good man lost before his time. From those of us who knew him at Goodbye Blue Monday, know that we are greatly saddened.
