Victor E. Szymanski Obituary

Victor E. Szymanski, 83, of Scottdale, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, Oct. 28, 2018.

He was born Feb. 22, 1935 in Donegal, a son of the late Victor and Bridget Forys Szymanski.

Victor was a devout Catholic and active member of the Partner Parish of St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Scottdale, prior to his illness.

Vic was a graduate of Connellsville High School Class of 1953.

He was a retired Mechanical Repairman at U.S. Steel Clairton Works, with over 40 years of service.

He was veteran of the U.S. Army with 15 years of Service with the Army Reserves.

Vic was a 50-year member of the Scottdale Volunteer Fire Deptartment Co. No. 4, joining July 19, 1966. He served as the first aid captain for many years when the fire department operated the ambulance service. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Fire Department in 2000.

Vic is gone from our lives, but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, including his loving and devoted daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki L. Irgang and husband Richard of Scottdale and Sondra "Sonnie" Christopher and husband Allen of Carmichaels; his grandchildren, Chad Hurst of Scottdale, Dr. Chelsie Geyer and husband Jason of Maryland, Anthony Irgang and wife Dom of Maryland and Alex Christopher of Carmichaels; his great-grandson, Jaxon Irgang of Maryland and special cousins Barbara and Mary.

In addition to his parents, Vic was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Naidene S. Stewart Szymanski (May 12, 2014); his sister Bernice Szymanski; and his step father, Shannon Lewis who raised Victor.

Vic's family and friends are cordially invited from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday to the Frank Kapr Funeral Home Inc., 417 Pittsburgh St, Scottdale.

Parting Prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral the Funeral Mass to follow at 10 a.m. in The Partner Parish of St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Scottdale, with his Pastor the Rev. Andrew M. Kawecki, as Celebrant.

In lieu of Flowers, those who wish to remember Vic in a special way, may make gifts in his memory to the Scottdale Volunteer Fire Department, 150 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, Pa. 15683

Entombment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville.

Scottdale Volunteer Fire Department will conduct a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

A Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
