Charles Beauchamp Obituary

Aug. 9, 1929 - Oct. 11, 2016

Charles "Chuck" Beauchamp, passed away on Oct. 11, surrounded by his wife (Marie) and family members, at his home in Davis. His passing was precipitated from complications following spinal surgery.

Chuck was born on Aug. 9, 1929 in Chicopee, MA. He spent his entire young life there attending Assumption College before going to Jefferson Medical School in Philadelphia. He had a distinguished career as a pediatrician having received awards from the American Pediatric Society and the Uniformed Services Pediatric Association.

He served in the Air Force for 26 years, retiring at the rank of Colonel after having been the Chief of Pediatrics at Travis AFB. After leaving the Air Force Chuck was the Chief of Pediatric Ambulatory Services at the UC Davis Medical Center. While in the service and at UCD he loved teaching and mentored many younger doctors.

Chuck's favorite hobbies included fly-fishing, kayaking, golf, and creating "event-specific, personalized cards" for relatives and friends. He was a devoted family man, consummate storyteller, possessed of a wry sense of humor, and generous spirit.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Jr. and is survived by his siblings, David, Joseph, and Denise as well as his wife, Marie. His children - Arthur, Robert, Louise, and Jerome and their spouses will miss him. He has eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren that he relished.
