Lorentina Esther Souza
Nov. 11, 1926 - Sept. 29, 2013
Lorentina Esther Souza joined her husband, Edwin A. Souza, in eternal peace Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at the age of 86. Lorna was born to Henry and Katharina Kraus in Pretty Rock, N.D., in 1926.
Lorna retired from Woodland School District, but never really stopped working. She volunteered with the Church Lazarus, was a committed member of the Cabrillo Club, and was a devout member of the Holy Rosary Church. But whether it was volunteering, spending time with family, or meeting someone new, Lorna was always willing to help in anyway she could, and in doing so, she made a lasting impression on family, friends, and anyone who knew her. She will always be remembered for this, as well as her quick and witty humor, and the strength she possessed during life's many trials.
Lorna was the eldest of six children and was preceded in death by her brother George Kraus, while she is survived by her sister Eleanore Taylor, and brothers Harry, Harlan, and Albert Kraus. She is also survived by daughter Terri Hesseltine (Jim), step-children Larry Souza (Rhonda) and Evelyn Souza. Other survivors include grandchildren Kristy Hesseltine (Tony), Rachelle Elliott (Patrick), Casey Cruz (Brandon), Jillian Haffner (Michael) Chris and Joey Souza, Jamie Rademaker (Tim), David Contreras (Chrissy), and Robert Contreras (Bonnie); and great-grandchildren Elias, Natahlia, and Aidyn Limon, Keira Elliott, Harper Cruz, and Juniper Haffner, Malissa Gorman, Carissa Martinelli, Zachary Contreras, Dre, Ty, and Izabella Contreras.
A mass will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 4, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 301 Walnut St., Woodland, followed by a burial at St. Joseph Cemetery, 860 West St., Woodland. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the donor's favorite charity.
