Kennedy Jr., John
March 5, 1967 - April 14, 2016 John Martin Kennedy, Jr., of Woodland, left us on Thursday, April 14, at the age of 49. John was born March 5, 1967, in Woodland. He attended Freeman Elementary, Douglas Jr. High, and Woodland High. At Woodland High, John dominated on the Wolves football team: rating as one of the top defensive nose tackles in the state, and winning the Jay Shorin award his senior year. After high school, he began working in the commercial and residential development field, most recently working in developing wireless communication systems. He spent his leisure time watching his 49ers, working around the house, or maintaining his annual vegetable garden. Most of all, he loved fishing. Sitting along a body of water, pole cast, and taking in the sights and sounds of nature was his little piece of heaven on earth. If you were blessed to have known John, you would have known he would have done anything for you. He was the type to give the shirt off his back to help a friend out. His personality was infectious and he would light up a room with his one-of-a-kind smile. We were lucky to have known him. His departure has left holes in our hearts. He will forever be in our thoughts. He is survived by his mother and father, Rebecca and Dennis White of Woodland; father, John Kennedy, Sr.; step-father, Richard Hoffman of Woodland; daughter, Stephanie Anne-Marie Kennedy and two granddaughters, Abbigail and Lillianne Kennedy of Copperas Cove, TX; sister, Cheri White of Woodland; brother, Steven Hoffman (Brandy) of Woodland; nieces, Hillary White of Orlando, FL, and Haley Hoffman of Chico; nephew, Hunter Hoffman of Woodland; extended family, Staci McMahon (Ron) of Cottonwood; Kim Matney (Tony) of Fernley, NV; Michael Norsworthy (Bernice) of Tifton, GA, and Landi Decker of Ohio; as well as other nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Connie and Burnell Johnson, and uncles, Steven and Bradley Johnson. A celebration of life will be held on May 4, at Court Street Cafe, 929 Court St., Woodland, from 2 to 4 p.m. The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the paramedics, emergency room and ICU staff at Woodland Memorial Hospital that gave John such great care attention. Any contribution or donations can be made to The Salvation Army.

David was born in Woodland to Charles and Alma Frances Evans Robinson. He was one of 16 children all born in Woodland, David being the 16th. David attended Fillmore Grade School and Woodland High School, graduating in 1952. The day after graduating, he went to work for Schneider and Fricke Farms. He enlisted in the Navy as soon as he turned 21. He left for Long Beach Nov. 12, 1955, to see the world, which he did for four years. He often said the time in the Navy was an adventure of a lifetime and he was proud to have served. He was assigned to the USS Higbee Destroyer (DD806) out of Long Beach, under E.E. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as a high priest. David was like the pied piper of the neighborhood for kids and animals. They all came over to visit him when he was outside. His 65th birthday was held in the front yard so all the neighbors could come over for cake and ice cream. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed sitting in his backyard feeding and watching the birds, and working in his garden growing an abundance of tomatoes, which he loved to share. He was also an avid gold miner and enjoyed cruises and road trips.
