Croll Jr., August Edwin  
Jan. 10, 1947 - June 22, 2016 August Edwin Croll, Jr., 69, passed away Wednesday, June 22, at his home, surrounded by his loving family in Zamora, after living with Parkinson's Disease for 20 years. Gus was a loving husband to Janice, whom he married in 1971; father to Kim (Joey) Brinson, of Moultrie, GA, and Tiffany (Gilbert) Delgado, of Brentwood, CA. He was most happy at home with his family and friends. Gus was an avid outdoorsmen who loved to hunt and fish. After serving two years in the U.S. Army, he and his brother, Jimmy, operated Zamora Planning Mill, started by their father, August Croll, Sr. They built many beautiful homes throughout Yolo and surrounding counties. Gus was born and raised in Zamora and was actively involved with the Odd Fellows, Grafton Lodge #293, and was a lifetime volunteer with the Zamora Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, Janice; daughters, Kim Brinson and Tiffany Delgado; grandchildren, Ian and Zachary Brinson, and Ethan and Elliot Delgado; siblings, Dawn Goodall of England, Jimmy (Marilyn) Croll, and Lois Cristler Harrison of Zamora, and Kay (Bill) Carter of Woodland; and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends. Graveside service will be held at Mary's Cemetery on Thursday, June 30, at 10 a.m. In liew of flowers, contributions may be made to the Zamora Fire Department, PO Box 166, Zamora, CA 95698; the Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741; or the charity of your choice. Reception to follow at Zamora Town Hall.

Cruz, Santenino John  
Sept. 25, 1945 - June 2, 2016 On Thursday, June 2, Santenino John Cruz passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the age of 70 years. John was a Veterinary Assistant for 13 years at Yolo Veterinary Hospital and worked in construction for over 40 years. He was an avid hunter and automotive enthusiast who loved the outdoors and making unforgettable memories with family and friends. As a teen John was a member of Yolo Antiques Car Club and as an adult became a member of Brown Society Car Club in 2001. He was a lifetime supporter of Aztecas Car Club and became a member in 2010. John was born Sept. 25, 1945 to Pablo and Maria Cruz in Yolo. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Cruz; son, Roger Cruz; daughter, Cecilia Cruz-Bencomo; son, Vincent Cruz; nine grandchildren; four great grand-children; two brothers and three sisters. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend of many. He will be truly missed, but kept close to the hearts of all those who loved and had the honor of knowing him. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 2 at the Knight's Landing Community Center, 42114 7th St. Knights Landing, CA 95645, starting at 2 p.m.

Dinger, Josephine B.  
March 20, 1920 - June 14, 2016 Josephine B. Dinger, 96, of Woodland, passed away peacefully on June 14. She was born in Aguascalientes, MX. She was a seamstress by trade and also a housewife. She enjoyed dancing and reading. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dinger; as well as many other family members and friends. Survivors include her children, Armida Whal, Penny england and Gene Dinger; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A celebration of life will be Saturday, June 25 at 2 p.m., at the Elks Lodge #1299, 500 Bush St. Please join the family, bring a side dish to share, with a story and or picture. In lieu of flowers donations to ACSPA are appreciated in her name.

Hotchkiss, Arthada L.  
Nov. 13, 1922 - June 20, 2016 Arthada Hotchkiss, 93, of Woodland, passed away on June 20. She was born to Arthur and Vivian (Rogers) Sternes on Nov. 13, 1922. Thada, as she was affectionately known, was a life member of the Woodland Woman's Bowling Association. She received many bowling trophies for over 50+ years of participating in local state and national leagues and tournaments. She bowled well into her 80's and was the 1978 recipient of Woodland's sports "Hall of Fame" trophy. Along with bowling, she enjoyed gardening and received countless ribbons for plants entered in the Yolo County Fair. She was also an honorary member of the Yolo Sutter Boat Club, Inc., launched her own boat, and enjoyed fishing with her youngest granddaughter, Allison. Thada is survived by her daugher, Linda (Ron) Dela Torres; siblings, Clifine Newton Vickrey of Woodland, Robert "Bob" Sternes of Woodland, and Lowell "John" Sternes of Jerome, ID; grandchildren, Ann Dela Torres (Mike) Lotten, Ronda Dela Torres (Patrick) Neil, Allison Dela Torres (Mike) Jones, great-grandchildren, Austin Dela Torres, Michael "Mickey" Neil, Victoria "Tori" Neil, Andrew "A.J." Neil, Michael Jones II and host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy "Mick" Hotchkiss in 1994, and son, Roy Michael "Mike" Hotchkiss in 1967. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., on Monday, June 27, and 11:00 a.m. preceding services at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28, McNary's Funeral Chapel, 458 College St., Woodland. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. Monument Hill Memorial Park. Donations would be appreciated to Union Church of Dunnigan, 3615 County Road 89A, Dunnigan, CA 95937, an historical landmark where she attended church as a small child. Flowers would also be appreciated if preferred.

Schmidt, Lola Maybell  
Sept. 10, 1925 - June 18, 2016 Lola Maybell Schmidt, born Sept. 10, 1925, received in Heaven June 18. A 35 plus year Woodland resident. Born and raised in Eureka. Married to Darrell Schmidt in 1945, raised two children, Andrea Schmidt (deceased) and Terry Schmidt, of Alta, and grandmother to Eric Cawley, of Woodland. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to those who knew her. She was a charter member of the Presbyterian Church in Woodland. Lola had many hobbies, including rose gardening (with blue ribbons from the County Fair), knitting with many sweaters still being worn today; her favorite hobby was baking deserts from pies and cakes to cookies and candy. She was famous. Recently relocated back to Woodland from Laguna Hills, she enjoyed being back with her friends and participating in her church activities. She will be forever loved. Viewing will be Friday, and Saturday morning, June 24 and 25 at McNary's Funeral Home with a celebration of life at the Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 25, Gibson Road, Woodland. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to her memory to Yolo Hospice, 1909 Galileo Court, Davis, 95618 or charity of your choice.

Weidenroth, Thea L.  
Thea L. (Nelk) Wiedenroth June 10, 1922 - June 21, 2016 Thea L. (Nelk) Wiedenroth, 94, passed away on June 21, at Kaiser Hospital, Sacramento. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra (David) Anders and Debra (Michael) Truitt; as well as her grandchildren, Jeffrey and Phillip Bailey, Heidi Truitt, and Heather (Seth) Albin; and great-grandson, Curtis. Thea was a graduate of Woodland High School, after which she took business courses and worked for the Department of Engineers. Thea met Roy W. Wiedenroth during the troop movements of the second World War, and they maried in 1946. She took time to have her children, then worked for the State of California Personnel Board until retirement. Roy and Thea enjoyed retirement together tremendously. They traveled and camped throughout the nation and Europe with both family and friends, until it became more important to care for Roy prior to his passing on May 1, 2005. After Roy's death, Thea enjoyed traveling, cruising and spending time with family and friends. She was delighted with her great-grandson, Curtis, and enjoyed his cheerful nature. A faithful church member all her life, she participated in St. John's United Church of Christ, Woodland, where she and Roy were married, El Camino Community Church and Fremont Presbyterian Church. She found a home at Fremont for many years in a "Mariner Ship" with Roy, as well as FIRS and various Bible study groups. She continued to participate and support the St. John's U.C.C. throughout her life, contributing to efforts at St. John's Village, and with friends and family on Sunday mornings. Thea was very active with family and friends throughout her life. She participated in the Gold Panners Camping Group and Eastern Star Cancer Group, among other activities. She will truly be missed by her family and friends. A private family burial will be held at the Woodland Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer's Association Society in memory of Roy, or the charity of your choice.
