Albert Lopes was 88 years old when he went to sleep and went to be with our mother on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012. Albert was born in Woodland on Sept. 25, 1924, where he married Irma WhiteBear Lopes.
Albert was one of eight born to Toby and Anna (Fernandes) Lopes of the Cape Verde Island. He was a World War II
and Korean War
veteran. Albert was a 52-year member of the Laborers Local 185 International Union of North America.
Albert was the proud father of and is survived by Albert and Dana Lopes, and step-children Shelley Lopes WhiteBear and Jimmie Lopes; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; brother Jimmie Lopes and wife Rosalie. Albert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Irma WhiteBear Lopes; sisters Judy and Benny; and brothers George, John, and Toby; and parents Toby and Anna Lopes; and granddaughter Tiffany Lopes.
A celebration of life is scheduled for 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, at the VFW
Hall, 345 W. Kentucky Ave., Woodland.
