Charlene Constance Rah (Kaiser)

Charlene Constance Rah (Kaiser) died on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, in Woodland at the age of 85. She was born on July 15, 1927 in Aztec, N.M. Her family later moved to Denver, Colo., where she met her husband of 55 years, Carmen Oliver Rah. After his service in the military during WWII, Charlene and Carmen moved to Southern California. There they raised two children, Cheryl Ann and Craig Owen.
In 1965, Charlene began cosmetology school. After graduation she opened her own beauty salon, continuing to work as a cosmetologist for 20 years.
Charlene and her family moved to Woodland in 1977. In Woodland she continued to work as a beautician, then later at JCPenney for 15 years until her retirement at age 67. Charlene attended the Assembly of God Church when she first moved to Woodland. She also enjoyed gardening and shopping with her son Craig. Charlene cared for her husband and son, both with disabilities, for many years. Strong in spirit, she never faltered. She loved her home, family and community. In turn she was greatly loved, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Charlene is survived by daughter Cheryl Ann Rah Lock and husband Steven Lock, son Craig Owen Rah, sister-in-law Mary Ferrero, nieces Doris Whimpy, Kathleen Ayl, Jan Hanley and husband Chuck, and nephew Michael Berger; as well as by two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Carmen Oliver Rah; sisters Helene Crane and Betty Ann White; brothers Albert Kaiser, Donald Kaiser, Charles Kaiser, Jr., David Kaiser and James Kaiser. Others preceding her in death include sisters-in law Virginia Berger, Edna Ebert, Elva Peck and brother-in-law Clarence Rah.
A funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Kraft Bros. Funeral Chapel, 175 Second St., Woodland, under the direction of Steve Lock. Burial will be held at Monument Hill Memorial Park, 35036 CR-22, Woodland. Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors is assisting the family with arrangements.
